Timur Boguslavskiy set the pace in Friday afternoon’s first Free Practice session for the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe round at Misano, driving one of AKKA ASP’s Silver Cup entries.
The Russian driver posted a best time of 1:34.845 early in the 80-minute session, of which the first half was reserved for Silver and Bronze-rated drivers.
His time, set in the No. 90 Mercedes-AMG GT3, remained on top even when the session was opened to Platinum and Gold-rated drivers.
Boguslavskiy shares the car, one of two Silver Cup entries for AKKA ASP, with Fabian Schiller.
The team’s other Silver Cup entry, shared by Nico Bastian and Thomas Neubauer, was classified fourth ahead of its Pro pairing Raffaele Marciello and Vincent Abril in fifth.
Sainteloc Racing and Belgian Audi Club Team WRT split the group of Mercedes, with the former’s Pro pairing of Markus Winkelhock and Steven Palette going 0.343 seconds off the pace in second, and the No. 2 WRT Audi in third.
The Ferrari 488 GT3s of Rinaldi Racing and HB Racing were quickest in the Pro-Am and Am classes, respectively.
Free Practice 2 will get underway at 5:30 p.m. local time (11:30 a.m. EDT).
