Chris Van Der Drift’s No. 61 Bhaitech McLaren went fastest in the first Blancpain Sprint Series practice session at Circuit Zolder.
The session started out on a wet track, however, it didn’t take long for the sun to break through and dry the track within the first half hour of the 80-minute session.
Van Der Drift delivered a 1:30.720 15 minutes from the end, giving the Bhaitech McLaren team their first best time of the season.
The No. 107 Beechdean Aston Martin V12 Vantage and No. 95 NSC Motorsport Lamborghini Gallardo FL2, making their first appearances in the series this weekend, ended up in P2 (+0.146s) and P3 (0.375s).
Jeroen Bleekemolen drove the No. 28 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini to a fifth time (+0.450s), while championship rival Maxi Götz’s HTP Motorsport Mercedes ended the session in seventh (+1.125s).
FP1 was cut short by a red flag five minutes from the end, as the Vita4One BMW Z4 GT3 went of track and had to be recovered.
