Prosperia C. Abt Racing will enter one of its Audi R8 LMS ultras in the Blancpain Sprint Series season-ending Baku World Challenge.

The German team, which currently leads the ADAC GT Masters drivers’ standings with René Rast and Kelvin van der Linde, will field a car in the streets of the Azerbaijani capital for the latter and team regular Christopher Mies.

Van der Linde is relatively new to the GT3 scene and only made the switch after winning last year’s German VW Scirocco Cup, the 18-year-old South African went on to score a pole position and race win in his first outing in the ADAC GT Masters.

“After the very rapid growth of our team we have established ourselves as a top team in the ADAC GT Masters, now we want to take the next step and find out were we are on an international level,” said team principal Christian Abt.

“For this occasion we got 2012 Blancpain Endurance Series champion Christopher Mies on board and we wanted to give our young driver Kelvin van der Linde the opportunity to showcase his great talent on an international stage against many first-class and professional GT drivers.”

Co-owner Slobodan Cvetkovic added: “I am very excited to see us compete against our Audi colleagues from the Belgian Audi Club Team (WRT) and Phoenix Racing, both are amongst the absolute top teams in the BSS.”
