Ezequiel Perez Companc topped the timesheets in Friday morning’s opening Free Practice session for the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe rounds at Zandvoort.

The Argentinian posted a best lap time of 1:36.892 during the first half of the session, which was reserved for Bronze and Silver-rated drivers.

Despite the track opening up to Platinum and Gold drivers for the final 40 minutes, few improvements were made due to the arrival of rain at the Dutch circuit.

This kept Perez Companc and his Belgian Audi Club Team WRT-run Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo on top, in his first session upon his return after a crash at Circuit Paul Ricard ruled him out of the previous rounds at Misano.

WRT made it a 1-2 at the top of the timing screen with its No. 10 car, running in the Silver Cup for Oscar Tunjo and Rik Breukers going second fastest and 0.376 seconds off the pace.

Sainteloc Racing’s No. 26 and 25 Audis placed third and fourth ahead of Black Falcon and AKKA ASP’s Mercedes-AMG GT3s.

Rinaldi Racing led the Pro-Am Cup with its No. 333 Ferrari 488 GT3. HB Racing is the only Am Cup entrant this weekend.

Free Practice 2 will get underway at 1:40 p.m. local time (7:40 a.m. EDT).
