Stef Dusseldorp has joined HTP Motorsport for the upcoming 2014 season, with the main target being an attack on the Blancpain GT Series crown, as well as other selected races.

For the past three seasons Dusseldorp has been part of Hexis Racing, which recently had to close it doors, leaving the young Dutchman to look elsewhere for a competitive seat in 2014.

Despite having built up a wealth of experience with the McLaren MP4-12C GT3, Dusseldorp will now make the switch to the highly successful and reliable Mercedes SLS AMG GT3, which will be entered by HTP Motorsport, winners of Blancpain Endurance Series and Spa 24 Hours last year.

Both parties are no strangers to each other and have already worked together during last year’s penultimate round of the FIA GT Series at Navarra, where the Dutch ace replaced the absent Maximilian Buhk and quickly got up to speed in the No. 1 Mercedes .

Team principal Norbert Brückner already watched Dusseldorp during his time in Formula 3 and was impressed by his skills in a GT car. “Stef impressed me in GT cars especially in 2012 in Baku,” he said. “He moved the car around the street circuit as if he had never done anything else.”

In 2014 Dusseldorp will enter both the Blancpain Endurance and Sprint Series, giving him a shot at the overall Blancpain GT Series title at the end of the year. Other races may be added to this program, though it is not yet clear what this will encompass.

Former LMP1 racer Harold Primat was already confirmed as part of the driver line-up for the HTP Motorsport squad in the Blancpain Endurance Series, while Bernd Schneider will again strengthen the team during the Spa 24 Hours.
