Emil Frey Racing co-drivers Mikael Grenier and Norbert Siedler took a pole position each for this weekend’s GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS sprints at Zandvoort.

Grenier set the No. 14 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo on pole for Race 1 in the first of Friday’s 20-minute, single-driver sessions before Siedler went on to match his teammate in the session for Race 2, which is also taking place on Saturday.

Grenier’s time of 1:43.626 beat Jim Pla in the Silver Cup-class No. 89 AKKA-ASP Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo by 0.339 seconds.

It was actually the Emil Frey driver’s second-best lap of the session since his fastest run was deleted after he slid into the gravel a few minutes from the end, triggering a red flag.

Ryuichiro Tomita was third in the No. 31 Team WRT Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo, ahead of Timur Boguslavskiy who is sharing AKKA-ASP’s Pro-class Mercedes-AMG with Felipe Fraga this weekend because Raffaele Marciello is competing in the Nürburgring 24.

Oscar Tunjo rounded out the top five in Toksport WRT’s Silver Cup No. 6 Mercedes that claimed a victory and a second-place finish last time out at Magny-Cours.

In the day’s second qualifying, Emil Frey Racing secured a front-row lockout as Siedler picked up from where Grenier left off with an improvement to 1:42.747, which was only 0.036 seconds quicker than Albert Costa’s time in the sister No. 163 Lamborghini.

Tomita’s co-driver Kelvin van der Linde banked another second-row start for the best-performing WRT car, while Christopher Haase lapped third in Sainteloc Racing’s Pro Audi.

Jules Gounon then brought CMR into the top five with a time of 1:43.134 at the wheel of the No. 107 Bentley Continental GT3 that the Frenchman shares with Nelson Panciatici.

Pole position for Race 1 went to Louis Machiels in the No. 52 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020, while Nick Foster – who is standing in for the Nürburgring-prioritizing Dominik Baumann – earned SPS Automotive Performance’s pole of the season for Race 2.

The first of Saturday’s 60-minute races gets underway at 9 a.m. CEST (3 a.m. EST) while Race 2 is set to start at 1:45 p.m. CEST (7:45 p.m. EST).
