GetSpeed Mercedes Squad to Make Endurance Cup Debut

GetSpeed Performance will make its GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup debut this year with a three-round program starting at Imola this month.

The German squad will add to its current ventures in the Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie and International GT Open with a single-car effort in SRO’s long-distance competition.

Fabian Schiller and Mercedes-AMG factory driver Maximilian Buhk, who both drive for the team in NLS, will partner with GP3 Series race winner and GT3 rookie Alessio Lorandi.

The Pro-class trio is set to appear in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo at the 3 Hours of Imola, the six-hour round at the Nürburgring and the 1000km season finale at Paul Ricard.

Team principal Adam Osieka suggested that an entry into October’s Total 24 Hours of Spa, which would make for a full-season program, could also be on the cards.

GetSpeed ventured into SRO competition last year, running a Mercedes in the GTWC Europe Sprint Cup Misano event for Osieka and Sports Club competitor Denis Remenyako.

The 2019 season also saw the now seven-year-old team become a factory-supported Mercedes-AMG outfit which has led to a rapid proliferation of its race programs.

“It is important for us to take the step into international GT3 sport now,” said Osieka.

“We celebrated great success straight away on our home track at the Nürburgring. Now we are taking the next step and facing the competition across Europe.

“Our goal is to drive the entire season in the GT World Challenge Europe in 2021 – sprint and endurance.”
