Grasser Racing Team went fastest in the opening Free Practice session for the Total 24 Hours of Spa on Thursday, with Mirko Bortolotti posting the best time in his No. 63 Lamborghini Huracan GT3.

The first half of the 90-minute session saw times continuously fall with several manufacturers at the top of the leaderboard at various stages.

Bortolotti’s 2:20.406 stuck throughout the second half of the session however, in the overall championship-leading car he shares with Christian Engelhart and Andrea Caldarelli.

Late laps from Daniel Juncadella and Franck Perera moved the No. 88 Mercedes-AMG Team AKKA ASP and No. 84 Mercedes-AMG Team HTP Motorsport cars into second and third.

Juncadella was 0.2 seconds slower than the Lamborghini while Perera’s lap time was 0.529 seconds off the pace.

The AKKA ASP cars of Raffaele Marciello and Alex Fontana took fourth and fifth, putting all three of the team’s entries in the top five.

Matteo Malucelli was the fastest of the Ferrari 488 GT3 drivers in sixth, while Michael Christensen and the KÜS Team 75Bernhard Porsche 911 GT3 R were seventh.

It was a clean session with no major incidents, and damp conditions throughout.

While the two fastest cars were ahead of the field, third position through 25th were separated by one second.

Pre-Qualifying gets underway at 5:45 p.m. local time, with two qualifying sessions to follow later this evening.
