Kaspersky Continues to Lead At Spa After 10 Hours

The Kaspersky Motorsport Ferrari 488 GT3 continues to lead the Total 24 Hours of Spa after 10 hours, as James Calado holds a 2.7-second advantage over Frédéric Vervisch in the No. 2 Audi Sport Team WRT Audi R8 LMS.

The Russian-backed Ferrari continued to set the pace as darkness fell at Spa, but had to fight back from making a pitstop under green conditions, while its main opponents lost less time by pitting under a safety car period.

Several Full Course Yellows and safety cars periods interrupted the race, the most notable incident being the crash of the No. 84 HTP Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 at the top of Raidillon.

The interruptions resulted in pitstop strategies getting strung out and cars moving up and down the order as they reacted to the neutralizations.

The No. 2 WRT Audi and No. 63 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracán GT3 were also taking turns at the head of the field, but the latter dropped back shortly before the ten-hour mark as it was one of the few cars visiting the pit lane under green, as did the No. 8 Bentley Continental GT3.

The No. 90 AKKA ASP Mercedes also led the race for quite a while with Raffaele Marciello in the car, but lost pace when Michael Meadows took over the wheel.

Several of the leading teams also opted to just top up its fuel tanks with very short stops, adding a new strategy element to the race.

Following an early three-minute stop-and-go for an unsafe pit entry , the No. 117 KÜS Team75 Bernhard Porsche 911 GT3 R got back on to the lead lap, helped by the many safety car interventions.

The top ten was still on the lead lap after ten hours of racing.
