Christopher Mies posted the fastest lap in the No. 33 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi R8 LMS after two free practice sessions for the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup round at Brands Hatch.

The Audi factory driver who shares his car with Enzo Ide reeled of a 1: 24.178 right near the end of Free Practice 2, relegating Jules Szymkowiak in the No. 86 HTP Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 to second (+0.064s).

Szymkowiak went fastest in the slower morning session, beating Michael Meadows in the No. 2 WRT Audi by just 0.004s.

Mirko Bortolotti went third fastest twice in a row, indicating that the Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracán GT3s are back on the pace after a difficult start to the season.

Audi was well represented in the top-ten with five cars, Mike Parisy posting of the fourth time in the No. 26 Sainteloc Audi, Frank Stippler in sixth with the No. 75 ISR R8, followed by Dries Vanthoor in P7 and the No. 6 Phoenix Racing Audi in ninth.

The No. 7 M-Sport Bentley Continental GT3 of Vincent Abril and Steven Kane and No. 58 Garage 59 McLaren 650S GT3 of Alvaro Parente and Rob Bell added diversity to the top-ten.

Championship leaders Laurens Vanthoor and Fred Vervisch ended up in P11.

FP1 was interrupted twice for minor mishaps, while a small contact between the A-Workx Porsche 911 GT3 R and No. 100 Attempto Racing Lamborghini brought out the red flag 12 minutes from the end in FP2.

No fewer than 24 cars — two thirds of the field — were within 1 second of Mies’ time in the second session.

Qualifying gets underway at 5 p.m. local time.

RESULTS: Free Practice 2
