A well known name from the past is poised to return to circuit racing, as Roock Racing looks set to enter at least one Porsche 911 GT3 R in the Blancpain GT Series.

Roock raced with Porsche in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and American Le Mans Series at the turn of the century, while it was also active in the BPR and FIA GT paddock.

While the German squad was on the entry list for this week’s Blancpain GT test days, the team has been a no-show at Paul Ricard.

Porsche has been underrepresented in the Blancpain GT Series in recent years, and the arrival of a new team running the 911 GT3 R would be a boost for the diversity on the grid.

Herberth Motorsport is the only other Porsche team that has shown interest in the series so far.

Several big names like Emmanuel Collard, Karl Wendlinger, Allan McNish, Stephane Ortelli and Yannick Dalmas raced for Roock Racing in the past, more recently the team focused on the historic racing scene.
