Dries Vanthoor led the way in the rain-affected Pre-Qualifying session for the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup finale at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Saturday evening.

The Belgian driver reeled off a 1:58.369 early in the session to take the top spot while times were over ten seconds slower than the morning’s Free Practice session which had been held in dry conditions.

Vanthoor shares his Belgian Audi Club Team WRT-run No. 5 Audi R8 LMS with Will Stevens and Marcel Fassler.

The second-quickest car in the session was the No. 911 Porsche 911 GT3 R of Herberth Motorsport, entered in the Pro-Am Cup and just 0.061 seconds off the Audi’s pace with Robert Renauer at the wheel.

While AKKA ASP topped both the Bronze Test and Free Practice session so far this weekend, the French team could only manage third in Pre-Qualifying with its No. 88 Mercedes-AMG GT3.

The No. 72 SMP Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 was classified fourth, meanwhile, with the top four positions made up of four different manufacturers.

Team HB Racing’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 was the fastest Am Cup entry, running 32nd overall.

Qualifying will get underway at 9 a.m. local time on Sunday ahead of the three-hour race at 3 p.m.
