Vanthoor Sweeps Friday Practice Sessions

Vanthoor, No. 5 WRT Audi sweep Friday practice sessions in Hungary…

Dries Vanthoor has topped both of Friday’s Free Practice sessions for the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup round at Hungaroring, going almost 1.2 seconds faster in Free Practice 2. 

The Belgian driver set a lap time of 1:42.903 in his No. 5 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi R8 LMS that he shares with Marcel Fassler after previously going fastest in the morning’s opening session with a 1:44.086.

WRT once again had three cars in the top five, with the No. 1 car of Christopher Mies and Enzo Ide coming second by 0.084 seconds, while the No. 17 car driven by Stuart Leonard and Robin Frijns was fifth.

Daniel Keilwitz took the Pro-Am Cup-entered No. 333 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 up into third overall late in the session, while the No. 63 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 was fourth.

Attempto Racing led the Silver Cup with its sole Lamborghini in 17th, meanwhile.

Qualifying will take place at 9:40 a.m. local time on Saturday, followed by the Qualifying Race at 3:50 p.m.
