Scuderia Villorba Corse confirmed Monday plans to enter the new SRO Motorsports Group organized GT Sports Club.

The Blancpain Endurance Series Pro-Am champions will enter a Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 for French driver Cedric Mezard, while plans exist to enter a second car in the series.

Mezard raced for the team in selected Blancpain and ELMS rounds, as well as the 2014 edition of the Gulf 12 Hours, in which he and his teammates finished second in the gentlemen class.

“After several races and good results with Villorba since two years in ELMS and Blancpain, I am very happy to race in this new series with Raimondo and his team,” Mezard said.

“It is new for me to race alone but with the help of the team we will try to keep on going in a good way. The tracks and the timetable of the events are perfect but some other races with the GT3 and Villorba are possible. We will plan all that in the next weeks.”

“Cedric Mezard is a friend of our team. We are glad to have him full-time in a championship for the first time,” team principal Raimondo Amadio said. “Our intention is to have a second car in the championship to start our new division in the best possible way.”
