Hindman Tops Combined GT4 Friday Practice

Trent Hindman set the pace in the combined practice session for Pirelli GT4 America competitors at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Friday morning.

The Park Place Motorsports driver posted a best time of 1:24.053 midway through the 60-minute session to take the top spot in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport which he shares with Alan Brynjolfsson.

The session, the only official practice for GT4 cars, was open to both GT4 Sprint and GT4 SprintX teams and saw a total of 30 cars set lap times.

Brynjolfsson and Hindman are entered in the SprintX East Pro-Am category.

Nicolai Elghanayan was second-quickest, posting flying lap just 0.034 seconds off the pace in his Marco Polo Motorsports-entered KTM X-Bow GT4, running in the Sprint series.

Murillo Racing’s Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Christian Szymczak and Matt Fassnacht was third quickest, ahead of the Krugspeed Ginetta G55 GT4.

Seven different manufacturers were represented in the top eight, with a Ford Mustang GT4 (Kohr Motorsports), Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R (Robinson Racing) and McLaren 570S GT4 (Blackdog Sped Shop) also running highly.

GT4 Sprint qualifying will get underway at 1:05 p.m. EDT today, followed by GT4 SprintX / East qualifying at 2:30 p.m.
