Michael Cooper led the way in Friday for Pirelli GT4 America competitors at Watkins Glen International, putting Blackdog Speed Shop and McLaren atop the time sheets overall.

Cooper, in the No. 10 McLaren 570S GT4, laid down a 1:55.263 lap time in Friday’s second practice session, improving on Jan Heylen’s 1:55.809 lap time that paced the morning session.

It was 0.167 seconds quicker than the No. 18 Andretti Autosport entry of Jarett Andretti, who made it a McLaren 1-2.

Both entries are competing in GT4 Sprint this weekend, with the quickest GT4 SprintX car being the No. 37 RS1 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR of Heylen and Charlie Bellaurdo, which ended up third overall in the session.

The No. 77 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport of Trent Hindman was quickest of the GT4 East competitors in fourth overall, followed by the No. 592 Ramsey Racing/EXR-Team by Premat Mercedes-AMG GT4 in fifth.

Other class pace-setters included the No. 34 Murillo Racing Mercedes (GT4 East Am) and Jeff Courtney (GT4 Sprint Am).

An incident for the No. 19 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW M4 GT4 of Sean Quinlan brought out a red flag with five minutes to go in the session, which did not restart.

GT4 qualifying gets underway Saturday at 9:10 a.m. ET, first with the Sprint series followed by SprintX.
