GT4 West Set for Laguna Seca Debut

Pirelli GT4 America West returns to action this weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, with a ten-car grid of GT4 machinery set for its one-and-only standalone round of the season.

The regional championship, which kicked off at Circuit of The Americas earlier this month alongside GT4 SprintX and GT4 East competitors, will take a headline role for its pair of 60-minute two-driver races on Friday.

The races will be part of the weekend bill for the California 8 Hours Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli round, which takes place on Saturday.

ST Racing’s Jon Miller and Harry Gottsacker, who were recently confirmed for a full-season run, head into Laguna Seca as Pro-Am championship leaders, with the pairing holding a 17-point lead over USRD’s Jeff Bader and Casey Dennis.

Samatha Tan and Jason Wolfe, in ST’s second BMW M4 GT4, meanwhile, sit third, ahead of the Rearden Racing pairing of Owen Trinkler and Sarah Cattneo, who will again be at the wheel of the team’s Audi R8 LMS GT4.

The Am class, meanwhile, is headed up by TRGs Kevin Woods and Chris Bellomo, in one of two Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsports fielded by the Kevin Buckler-led team this weekend. 

Other entries include a BMW GT4 for Stephen Cameron Racing, the return of Racers Edge Motorsports’ SIN R1 GT4 and a RHC Jorgenson/Strom BMW GT4 that will also compete for Am class honors.

Track action gets underway on Thursday, with the pair of races slated for Friday at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. PST.

The remainder of the GT4 West calendar will be run alongside SprintX competitors at Sonoma Raceway, Portland International Raceway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
