Hindman Tops Opening GT4 Practice at VIR

Trent Hindman led the way in combined opening practice for this weekend’s Pirelli GT4 America races at Virginia International Raceway.

Hindman, in the No. 77 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, laid down a 1:54.667 to go quickest in the 45-minute session.

The GT4 East Pro-Am class entry was 0.238 seconds faster than Sean Quinlan’s No. 19 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW M4 GT4, which posted the second quickest time overall and best of the GT4 SprintX Pro-Am competitors.

Spencer Pumpelly, who led the majority of the 45-minute session, ended up third overall but was still quickest of the GT4 Sprint entries in his No. 66 TRG Porsche GT4.

While practicing together, GT4 Sprint and SprintX will have seperate races this weekend. 

The No. 32 Kelly-Moss Road & Race Porsche GT4 and No. 16 Auto Technic Racing BMW GT4, meanwhile, completed the top-five overall in the session.

A second combined GT4 practice session is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. EDT, although Bronze-rated drivers will have an opportunity for additional track time from 11:15-11:45 a.m., alongside GT3 machinery.
