Autometrics Motorsports has committed to a full-season Pirelli World Challenge SprintX effort in GT Cup, with Joe Toussaint and Corey Friedman set to co-drive a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in the GT Cup class.

The commitment comes after running selected Sprint GTA events with Toussaint in 2015-16, highlighted by a third place class finish at Mid-Ohio last year.

Toussaint and Friedman will compete in the GT Cup Am/Am category, as one of two cars currently entered in the overall GT Cup class, which is reserved for cars from Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari single-make series.

“I’m excited about the SprintX format and I’m very fortunate to be racing with Cory,” Toussaint said. “With Cory’s talent and commensurate speed I am hopeful of strong results.

“I had a little taste of success last season with a podium finish at Mid-Ohio in GTA and am eager to find my way back on that stand.”

The South Carolina-based team will also be supporting a TC class Porsche Cayman, run under the RacerInk banner this year for Cody Ellsworth.

“We’re really excited to be back with the Pirelli World Challenge group,” said team principal Gordon Friedman. “We’re eager to see Joe and Cory get a chance to capture the GTC title.”
