Colin Braun ended the opening day of official track action for this weekend’s GT World Challenge America powered by AWS races on top, with DXDT Racing quickest in both practice sessions at Circuit of The Americas.

Braun took his No. 04 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo to a fast lap of 2:04.547 in Friday’s afternoon session to go quickest of the day.

It was 0.196 seconds quicker than the No. 7 Vital Speed Ferrari 488 GT3 of Jeff Westphal, who ended up second in Practice 2 but third quickest overall.

Ryan Dalziel’s Practice 1 pace-setting 2:04.671 time in the sister No. 63 DXDT Mercedes Evo was good enough for second quickest of the day.

The No. 80 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 Evo of Kyle Marcelli posted the third quickest time in the afternoon, followed by Matteo Cressoni’s No. 24 TR3 Racing Ferrari and the No. 14 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R of Jeroen Bleekemolen, who completed the top-five.

Wright Motorsports’ Porsche of Max Root was again quickest of the GT3 Am competitors, having posted the ninth quickest time overall.

No major incidents were reported in the session.

Qualifying gets underway Saturday at 9:40 a.m. local time.
