DXDT Racing has scored pole for Saturday’s Pirelli World Challenge SprintX round at Utah Motorsports Campus, in the team’s series debut.

James Burke took the No. 63 Audi R8 LMS ultra to a best lap of 1:50.822, outpacing the No. 46 Mills Racing BMW Z4 GT3 of Michael Mills by 0.115 seconds.

It marked pole for Burke, who has been conditionally rated Bronze by PWC and SRO this weekend, alongside co-driver David Askew, who also currently doesn’t have a FIA driver rating.

Burke, a two-time NASA champion, is a former driving instructor at the track previously known as Miller Motorsports Park and co-drives with Askew in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America series.

Per SprintX rules, the Bronze-rated driver must qualify and start the first race, with the quickest race lap from the pro driver in Race 1 determining the grid for Race 2.

“I’m lucky enough to have the most laps here of anyone racing this weekend,” Burke said. “The run was good… The Audi is a fantastic car and it really works well. David and I are looking forward to the SprintX race now.”

The No. 14 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 of Brent Holden qualified third, ahead of the No. 98 Calvert Dynamics Porsche of Preston Calvert, which has changed chassis and co-drivers following a massive fire for Andrew Davis’ car in Practice 2.

Max Riddle took his No. 07 TRG-AMR Aston Martin Vantage GT4 to pole in GTS, thanks to a 1:59.326 lap time.

The two TRG Astons are the only cars again competing in GTS this weekend, following the withdrawals of the two Ginetta G55 GT4s, which just took part in practice.

Both GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars are also not expected to race, with Acura also having ruled out the debut of its all-new NSX GT3 in the SprintX round.

It leaves an expected eight-car starting field for tomorrow’s race, which gets underway at 11:30 a.m. local time.
