GMG Racing will expand into full-time Pirelli World Challenge GTS competition this year, confirming a McLaren 570S GT4 for George Kurtz.
Kurtz, the CEO of CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity firm, will give the GT4 contender its PWC debut at next weekend’s season-opening round on the streets of St. Pete.
“I couldn’t be happier to join GMG for the 2017 Pirelli World Challenge season,” said Kurtz.
“The team’s reputation for running a competitive program is well known, and to take the wheel of the McLaren is an experience that every driver wishes for.
“Hopes are definitely high for a competitive run, and I’m sure we’ll only get stronger as the year goes on.”
Kurtz’s McLaren GT4 entry joins GMG’s previously announced GTA/SprintX program for Alec Udell, with team owner James Sofronas also in a Porsche 911 GT3 R for the St. Pete round.
“We couldn’t be more excited to bring this new program to the series,” Sofronas said.
“At GMG we’ve been very proud of the reputation we’ve built over the years for being able to fine-tune and develop a number of exotic racing machines, and the addition of the new McLaren 570S GT4 is a perfect fit.
“It’s a beautiful car and one that we couldn’t be more excited to get our hands on.”
