The brand-new Acura NSX GT3 unofficially topped the time charts in opening practice for this weekend’s Pirelli World Challenge SprintX round at Utah Motorsports Campus.

Acura development driver Peter Kox reeled off a quick time of 1:48.507 in the 30-minute session, outpacing the No. 23 M1GT Racing Audi R8 LMS of David Ostella by 0.764 seconds.

Kox and RealTime Racing’s Peter Cunningham have utilized Thursday’s PWC test and practice sessions for track time in the mid-engined supercar, although no decision has been made if the car will race in this weekend’s second SprintX event.

The No. 46 Mills Racing BMW Z4 GT3 of Kuno Wittmer, who along with Michael Mills swept the opening weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, was third quickest, ahead of the No. 14 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R in fourth.

Andrew Davis completed the top-five in the No. 77 Calvert Dynamics Porsche, which is set for its SprintX debut this weekend.

The pair of Performance Motorsports Group Ginetta G55 GT4 cars swept the GTS class, with Parker Chase’s 1:58.255 nearly two seconds quicker than Max Riddle in the No. 07 TRG-AMR Aston Martin Vantage GT4.

A total of 11 cars turned laps, with both GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars not setting time.

Practice 2 gets underway Friday at 11 a.m. local time.
