No additional changes are expected to SRO America’s calendar, with races from canceled rounds at St. Petersburg, Long Beach, Lime Rock Park and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park to be incorporated into the remainder of the 2020 season.
It comes following confirmation of the rescheduled Virginia International Raceway event, which is set to now take place on July 9-12 as the expected restart for GT World Challenge America powered by AWS and SRO America’s other GT and touring car series.
As reported by Sportscar365, the VIR race will feature triple-headers for Pirelli GT4 America Sprint and SprintX, as well as the TC America classes, which will make up for the canceled events at St. Petersburg and Long Beach.
For GTWC America, the first three hours of the Indianapolis 8 Hour will replace the canceled two 90-minute races at CTMP.
No other GTWC America race has been canceled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, although additional GT4 Sprint and SprintX races are expected to be made up at other existing weekends later in the season.
Despite the four canceled events, SRO America has elected not to add an additional weekend to its calendar, in what’s believed to be a strategic move aimed at costs savings for teams.
Its race at VIR, meanwhile, will run under “appropriate guidelines” set forth by national and local authorities, according to a series statement.
No word has been given if the event will be run without spectators.
