A total of 40 cars, spread between four classes and two separate races, are set to take part in this weekend’s Pirelli World Challenge round on the streets of St. Petersburg.

The entry list for the second round of the season has been released, featuring an expected decrease in entries in GTA and GT Cup, but still 17 cars in the GT class for the pair of 50-minute races.

ENTRY LIST: St. Petersburg

Johnny O’Connell heads into the event as the points leader in GT, thanks to leading Cadillac Racing to a 1-2 finish in Race 2 in last weekend’s season-opener at Circuit of The Americas.

However, the storyline will be on EFFORT Racing and if it will be able to get its new Porsche 911 GT3 R back on track following Race 1 winner Patrick Long’s massive start-line crash on Sunday.

All of the GT class runners that were at COTA return to St. Pete, with the exception of James Sofronas, who does not have his No. 14 GMG Racing Porsche currently entered.

The GTA class, meanwhile, slips from nine to three entries, with COTA winner Martin Fuentes being joined by Jorge De La Torre and Frankie Montecalvo over the weekend.

GT Cup also sees a decrease for the street race, with four Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars set to compete instead of the seven that were in Texas.

Among the confirmed entries are Alec Udell and Sloan Urry, who each claimed class honors at COTA, with Urry heading in as the points leader.

The GTS class, which runs standalone races, will again be in action as well, with 16 cars provisionally entered.

Track action gets underway on Thursday with a pair of test sessions immediately followed by official practice. The first GT/GTA/GT Cup race is set for Saturday, with the second race set to take place on Sunday, following the Verizon IndyCar Series season-opener.
