Guy Smith led opening practice in GT at Miller Motorsports Park, as Pirelli World Challenge teams prepare for this weekend’s double-header season finale.
Smith, who set fastest race laps in both Rounds 13 and 14 at Sonoma, led the timesheets in the series’ return. He had a best lap of 1:48.431 in his No. 88 Dyson Racing Team Bentley Continental GT3.
Mid-Ohio double winner Ryan Dalziel in the No. 31 EFFORT Racing Porsche GT3 R, was second at 1:49.011 with Andy Pilgrim third in the No. 8 Cadillac Racing Cadillac CTS-V.R at 1:49.290.
GT points leader Johnny O’Connell in the No. 3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac CTS-V.R, got up to fifth by the end of the session.
Of note, Andy Lee was as high as sixth, and ended eighth, in the No. 20 Laguna Bicycles/Crown Seven/Invisible Glass Wiper Blades Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 in his first official GT practice session.
GT-A points leader Michael Mills was fastest classified GT-A driver at 1:51.183 in the No. 41 EFFORT Racing Porsche GT3 R.
In GTS, two-time 2014 winner Jack Baldwin led the session at 1:58.571 in the No. 73 RESET-MD Porsche Cayman S.
Second was Alec Udell in the No. 17 Watson Racing/MDG Ford Mustang Boss 302S with Drew Regitz third in the No. 02 TRG-AMR North America Aston Martin GT4.
GTS points leader Mark Wilkins was fourth in the No. 38 PutOnTheBrakes.org Kia Optima.
Qualifying for GT, GT-A and GTS runs from 1:05 to 1:50 p.m. MT and local time, and is the next track activity for these classes this afternoon.
