Dion von Moltke led the way in Friday’s one-and-only Pirelli World Challenge GT/GTA/GT Cup practice session at Road America, ahead of Rounds 12 and 13.

Von Moltke, a late addition to the M1 GT Racing lineup this weekend, reeled off a best lap of 2:05.944 in the No. 23 Audi R8 LMS to not only go quickest in GTA but also overall in the 40-minute session.

He edged out the No. 33 Always Evolving Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 of James Davison by 0.213 seconds. Davison was the pace-setting GT class entry.

Ryan Eversley was third overall and second in the GT class in his No. 43 RealTime Racing Acura TLX-GT at 2:06.568, while Johnny O’Connell and Patrick Long completed the top-five for Cadillac Racing and Wright Motorsports, respectively.

The No. 16 Wright Porsche 911 GT3 R of Michael Schein was 2nd in GTA, and 8th overall, while class championship leader Martin Fuentes was third.

GT Cup saw the No. 17 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of Alec Udell go quickest, thanks to a 2:12.456. Championship rival Sloan Urry was just 0.033 seconds behind in second.

The session was stopped with 13 minutes remaining after a fire from the No. 19 Stephen Cameron Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra of Drew Regitz. Regitz was uninjured but the car appeared to sustain damage.

Practice restarted with six minutes on the clock, with a number of teams making late-session improvements.

GT/GTA/GT Cup Qualifying is set for Saturday at 10 a.m. CT.
