Callaway has announced that it will enter a pair of factory Corvette C7 GT3-Rs in Pirelli World Challenge next year.

The cars, to be campaigned under the Callaway Competition USA banner, will mark its North American debut, after winning the ADAC GT Masters championship in Germany.

“Joining the Pirelli World Challenge has been a long term objective for Callaway Competition,” said Reeves Callaway.

“Now the field is a roll-call of the most capable sports cars from every country. To do well here, you must beat the best in the world. What better way to showcase our iconic American car?”

The new-for-2018 effort has been made possible due to the end of Cadillac Racing’s program with its ATS.V-R, which held GT3 exclusivity for GM brands in North America.

As reported by Sportscar365 last month, the American tuner had opened up car sales to North America and had been in discussions with teams.

“For several years fans have asked when they would see the Callaway Corvette GT3 run in the Pirelli World Challenge,” said Greg Gill, President and CEO of Pirelli World Challenge.

“The wait is over and we are very pleased to announce the arrival of the Callaway Corvette GT3 for the 2018 season.”

Callaway will operate the two-car program as a factory team next year, with plans to withdraw that effort in 2019 and focus exclusively on customer racing.

The car will be unveiled and both full season drivers announced at the Performance Racing Industry show in Indianapolis on Dec. 7 at the PWC booth.

“For 2019, we will not race against our customers, but provide high-quality support to them in the tradition of other manufacturer customer racing support programs,” Callaway said.

“We’re incredibly proud to bring the Corvette C7 GT3-R to competition on American soil. It is going to be a very competitive season, and we are looking forward to getting started.”
