Mathieu Jaminet paced the opening Pirelli World Challenge SprintX practice at Circuit of The Americas with a fast lap of 2:05.886 in his No. 14 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The Porsche Young Professional snagged the top spot on his last lap of the 50-minute session, edging the Ricky Taylor and Johnny O’Connell-driven No. 3 Cadillac ATS-V.R by 0.102 seconds, the fastest of the Pro-Pro field.

Daniel Morad and Ryan Dalziel, who come into the weekend third in the SprintX standings, were 0.442 seconds off of the GMG Porsche in third in the No. 2 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, with SprintX championship leaders Michael Cooper and Jordan Taylor fourth in the No. 8 Cadillac.

Daniel Mancinelli, who is second in SprintX points, and his TR3 co-driver Niccolo Schiro wrapped up the session in sixth overall in the No. 31 Ferrari 488 GT3.

The second-place runner in the Pro-Am category was the No. 75 Always Evolving/AIM Autosport Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 of Ricardo Sanchez and Frankie Montecalvo in fifth overall.

M1GT Racing’s pairing of Walt Bowlin and Lars Viljoen paced the Am-Am class.

The session ran without incident, with a single red flag halting the proceedings with just over 20 minutes to go for a track sweep.

Practice 2 is scheduled for 1:55 p.m. CT this afternoon.
