Ian James has lost his podium finish in Sunday’s Pirelli World Challenge GTS round at Virginia International Raceway, following a post-race penalty issued against the Panoz driver.

The No. 50 Panoz Avezzano GT has been moved to fourth in class, promoting the No. 10 Blackdog Speed Shop Camaro GT4.R of Lawson Aschenbach to third, following a protest issued by Aschenbach, according to a PWC spokesperson.

It’s understood the protest involved James’ driving conduct on the final lap of the 50-minute race, which saw the Panoz and Camaro make contact while battling for third, and James get around the GM driver for position.

With a pair of podium finishes, Aschenbach leaves VIR as the new GTS points leader.

RESULTS: Race 2 (Updated)
