Ian James has snatched pole for this afternoon’s Pirelli World Challenge GTS Sprint round, in a hard-fought wet qualifying session Saturday at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

James took the No. 50 Panoz Avezzano GT to a best lap of 1:42.211 in the rain-soaked session, which was interrupted early for an accident by the No. 40 PF Racing Ford Mustang GT4 of James Pesek.

The times tumbled once the session restarted, with James, the No. 1 Blackdog Speed Shop Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R of Lawson Aschenbach and James Sofronas’ No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4 all swapping provisional pole.

Sofronas ended up second, thanks to a 1:43.387 time, followed by Aschenbach in third and Friday’s pace-setting No. 55 PF Mustang GT4 of Jade Buford in fourth.

The No. 74 Robinson Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Gar Robinson made it five different manufacturers in the top-five.

Mike Hedlund, meanwhile, took his No. 45 Flying Lizard Motorsports Audi GT4 to pole honors in GTA, setting the 7th quickest time overall.

GTS Race 1 is set to get underway at 4:10 p.m. ET.
