ANSA Motorsports has confirmed the driver lineup for this weekend’s Pirelli World Challenge season opener at St. Pete, with Frankie Montecalvo and Bill Ziegler set to drive the team’s two KTM X-Bow GT4 cars.

While Ziegler is confirmed for the entire GTS season, former GTA class champion Montecalvo is set to tackle the two St. Pete races, with the eye of taking part in additional races.

The Florida-based team won the GTS championship last year with Brett Sandberg.

“I could not be happier to drive for the 2016 champions and defend their GTS title,” Montecalvo said. “The KTM should be a great platform for the St Pete street circuit, its tight and technical corners should allow us to be very competitive.

“This will be my first time driving the KTM car and my first time racing in the Pirelli World Challenge GTS class.

“It’s never ideal to first drive a car at the race weekend but I look forward to the challenge and think I have the car and team to succeed.”

ANSA claimed three victories last year, with Sandberg, totaling a season-high ten pole positions for the K-Bow GT4, which had a successful North American debut season.

“Last season was almost perfect for us,” team owner Alain Nadal said. “We won the driver championship for our first participation in the GTS championship and with a brand new car.

“We worked hard all winter to finalize our program and make our cars even more competitive than in 2016.”

A total of 20 cars are set to battle for GTS honors in St. Pete, with additional entries expected later in the season.
