Robinson Racing will switch from Mercedes-AMG GT4 to Chevrolet Camaro GT4.Rs beginning with the next Pirelli World Challenge round at Road America, the team has confirmed.

The first-year PWC entrants had campaigned Mercedes GT4 cars for Gar Robinson and Shane Lewis, who both visited the podium in the Sprint round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park last month.

Its move to the Pratt & Miller-built car marks a homecoming of sorts, with the team having long been associated with GM.

“We have raced a GM product as far back as 1987, and as recently as 2017 where we won our 2nd TA2 championship in a Camaro,” said team owner George Robinson.

“Robinson Racing is delighted to be back in the family with a bowtie proudly displayed on our new GT4.R Camaros in the Pirelli World Challenge GTS class.”

Second-generation driver Gar will campaign the No. 74 Camaro GT4, with Shane Lewis in the No. 72 entry, with the pairing teaming up in a solo 74 Ranch Resort-sponsored entry for the SprintX rounds, as was the case previously.

“My dad’s Camaro was chassis number 007 and I have the honor of running 007 in my new GT4.R,” said Gar. “It’s like this was meant to be.

“As my crew looks over our new cars, a sense of nostalgia has everyone in smiles and ready to go racing, I can’t wait to get in see what we can do.”

Robinson’s switch marks the second U.S.-based customer for the Camaro GT4, alongside the pair of Blackdog Speed Shop entries that also compete in the PWC GTS class.

The pair of ex-Stevenson Camaro GT4s, meanwhile, are competing in the GT4 European Series.

That would be good, since both GS and GTS classes are running GT4, won’t take too much to transition over to IMSA I don’t think

I KNEW something was up when I saw Lawson’s IG posts from RA with hints of a new Camaro GT4.R! Awesome! Very happy to see another Camaro out there to mix up the field. It’s too bad the car is so much more expensive than the other GT4 cars.

I do wonder who else, if any, have one of these cars as this is chassis 007; meaning there are seven (7) of these cars built and used out there:

    -Ex-Stevenson Cars: 2
    -Black Dog Cars: 2
    -Robinson Cars: 1

That’s five (5) cars. So, where are the other two (suspect chassis 005 and 006)?

I say, “If any”, because I am not sure, with some of the race accidents with Black Dog if another chassis was used or if the other two chassis were test mules or something of the sort.
