Porsche has confirmed the race version of its new mid-engine racer, the Cayman GT4 Clubsport, will make its world premiere November 18 at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The new car is expected to feature in a variety of domestic sports car championships in 2016.

Homologation is planned for the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, Pirelli World Challenge, Porsche Club of America, Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA, Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge Canada, and for other club-level meetings around the world.

Industry sources have suggested to Sportscar365 that at least two existing Continental Tire Challenge teams will switch to the Cayman GT4 Clubsport from their current models. A third existing team is also possible to switch.

IMSA has added the new Cayman GT4 to its list of conditionally approved cars for 2016 in the GS class.

Based on the recently released lightweight Cayman GT4, the lightweight car will feature 385 hp, 3.8-liter flat six engine, paddle shifts, a mechanical rear-axle locking differential and weigh in at only 2,866 pounds.

Initial details of the Cayman GT4 race car were released back in March.
