Audi Sport customer racing has delivered the final R8 LMS race car produced, marking an end of an era for the manufacturer’s GT3 activities.
Creventic driver Michael Doppelmayr, who has competed at the wheel of Audi R8 LMS machinery since 2021 and was crowned the 24H Series European GT3 champion in 2022, took possession of the R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, in a handover from Head of Audi Sport customer racing Chris Reinke.
It marked the 310th example of the GT3-spec Audi to have been produced over multiple model generations since the race car’s launch in 2009.
The German manufacturer previously announced the ending of GT3 car production in the fourth quarter of this year although will continue to offer customer support for the foreseeable future.
To date, customers have won 125 titles in drivers classifications and 197 other championship categories with the R8 LMS GT3 in worldwide competition.
