MSR Confirms Second Acura for Mid-Ohio

Meyer Shank Racing has confirmed that it will enter its second Acura NSX GT3 in next month’s Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio, building on the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup-only program initially announced for that car.

Katherine Legge and Alvaro Parente will drive the No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 in the third GT Daytona round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Legge and Parente, who currently sit third in the GTD drivers’ championship alongside Trent Hindman, will join the season-long No. 93 entry of Lawson Aschenbach and Justin Marks in the team’s home event.

“We’ve had a strong start to the season so far with both cars and we’ve been working really hard to get the 86 car out for Mid-Ohio,” said team co-owner Mike Shank.

“This track is so close to home and we have had so many great memories at this event, we were really motivated to make it happen.

“This is going to be a big weekend for us. We are really fortunate to have the partners that we do, who all wanted to see this happen. Katherine and Alvaro will come on board and I know that they both can continue their pace that they have shown already this season.”

While having only so far confirmed Mid-Ohio, it’s understood an active effort is underway to secure funding for the remainder of the WeatherTech Championship season, potentially with a revised driver lineup.

MSR’s news comes just days after fellow Acura GTD squad HART has essentially ruled itself out of the race, due to not having been able to raise the necessary budget.
