Looking back at 2015, what would you say were some of the high points, and/or challenges?
“I’d say the high point was getting to test out the new engine and getting a feel for 2016 was going to look like. And a challenge, definitely sitting out for a few races was tough. But I have a feeling that challenge will be paid off soon!”
How has testing gone so far with the new gas-powered Mazda?
“Testing has been very positive. It just goes to show how solid the group of guys we have at the shop is. It’s always nice getting in the car with the confidence that you have passionate guys working on the car and knowing they have built the car to the best that it could be.”
How do you feel your chances are heading into the 2016 season?
“You can never know until the green flag flies, but nonetheless myself and everyone at Mazda feel very good about where we are heading into the 2016 season.”
What have you been doing to stay busy during the off-season?
“The car is even more physical to drive. So i’ve been working really hard on getting my body in tip top shape. It’s been my busiest off-season yet.”
Tell us about your Dnt Txt n drV campaign and how that’s evolved since you launched it.
“Well just like anything, the more time you put into it the better it gets. The Dnt txt n drV campaign has turned into an official foundation. Along with traveling around to different schools to share my safe driving message, we have teamed up to further our efforts.
“We’re providing grant and scholarship money to students and schools that are advocates just like me. It’s fantastic to see how much it’s grown since we laughed the campaign in 2012.”
