IMSA Plans to Set PC Ratings Back to 2014 Regulations

Following last Friday’s release of new driver rating pairing regulations, whereby only one Silver or Bronze-rated driver was required as a minimum for three or four-driver lineups in Prototype Challenge and GT Daytona, IMSA looks set to revert back to the 2014 regulations for PC to make a minimum of two.

The likely change for PC comes on the heels of competitor feedback, and working in partnership with IMSA, a formal announcement of the change back is expected shortly.

A majority of the PC teams worked to optimize their lineups to ensure two Silver or Bronze-rated drivers were part of the lineups for the endurance races, as many of those drivers can bring budget to the table.

GTD is expected to remain at the revised-for-2015 regulation change, requiring a minimum of only one Silver or Bronze-rated driver for three or four-driver lineups.

In both classes, five-driver lineups are allowed for the Rolex 24 at Daytona, and a minimum of two Silver or Bronze-rated drivers remains the standard.
