Corey Lewis will sub for Mathieu Jaminet at the wheel of the No. 41 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R in this weekend’s Pirelli World Challenge SprintX round at Virginia International Raceway.
The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring race-winner, who currently drives full-time in Prototype Challenge, will team up with Alec Udell in the Loci-sponsored Porsche for the second SprintX event of the season.
Jaminet, a Porsche Young Professional, is unavailable due to a clashing ADAC GT Masters round at Most in the Czech Republic this weekend.
“I think Corey and I bring a strong pairing for Loci to VIR,” Udell said. “I’ve got great experience in the Porsche and Corey has been fast in multiple disciplines of sports car racing. We’ll be a strong car.”
While the two drivers have not shared a cockpit before, they have Loci CEO John Wise as a connection.
Lewis, like Udell, raced with Wise turning the wrenches on his car before Wise developed the ideas behind LOCIsearch. The synergy between the three racers brought Lewis into the mix to co-drive with Udell in Virginia.
“The dynamic between John and Corey is similar to what brought John and myself together so I’m excited for the opportunity for all three of us to work together this weekend,” Udell added.
With no other date clashes, Jaminet is expected to complete the SprintX season alongside Udell, who is still working on securing additional outings in the single-driver Sprint races this year.
