Marc VDS Considering Blancpain Endurance Nürburgring Outing

After scoring a convincing win in the Total 24 Hours of Spa last month, Marc VDS Racing Team is considering adding the season ending Nürburgring round to its schedule as it’s now in the hunt for both Blancpain Endurance Pro Cup titles.

Despite missing the two opening rounds of the Blancpain Endurance Series and only participating in the Paul Ricard 1000km in preparation for Spa, the third place finish of Markus Palttala, Lucas Luhr and Maxime Martin in France now means the Belgian squad has a shot at the titles.

Spa winners Palttala and Luhr only face a ten-point deficit to Frank Stippler and Stéphane Ortelli, while the margin is 14 points in the teams’ standings. 25 points are still on offer in the Eifel Mountains.

The Finnish-German Marc VDS duo might be able to repeat the performance of HTP Motorsport’s Maxi Buhk from 2013, who also missed the first two races of the five-round series, but went on to grab the title after winning Spa.

“The race at the Nürburgring is under consideration. We’re working on it and hope to be there,” technical director Sébastien Metz told Endurance-Info the day after the race.

Together with DTM team MTEK, Marc VDS Racing is currently developing the new BMW M6 GT3 and GTLM, with the team hoping to know their 2016 program by September.
