Bentley Team Absolute Confirms Two-Car PWC Program

Bentley’s return to Pirelli World Challenge in the 2016 season will come with Team Absolute, and a two-car effort featuring Andrew Palmer and Adderly Fong.

The two young guns will be in a pair of Bentley Continental GT3s.

“We’ve won major international championships in Europe and Asia this year and it is certainly the plan to take a title in America,” said Bentley’s Director of Motorsport, Brian Gush.

“Bentley Team Absolute has proven they have what it takes, so we are excited to take our relationship into another continent to take on another challenge.”

“We are pleased to have Adderly back for a second season and look forward to welcoming Andrew into the Bentley fold.

“We have been very impressed with Andrew, not only did he become the youngest ever overall race winner in Pirelli World Challenge in 2014 but he has shown great maturity and talent in 2015 and we look forward to working with him to develop his career further.”

The move Stateside extends Team Absolute’s program beyond the GT Asia Series program where it currently competes.

“We’re delighted to confirm this additional program,” said Bentley Team Absolute’s team director, Ingo Matter.

“It’s a major new market for our team and we couldn’t be happier to be doing it with Bentley. Our experience in Asia with the Bentley Continental GT3s will give us a major boost.

“We’re sure that the combination of Adderly’s experience with the car and Andrew’s experience in the Pirelli World Challenge will also add further layers of confidence to the program.”

Palmer, as noted, ran the full 2014 World Challenge season with a GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra and won overall at Barber Motorsports Park.

He shifted to Lamborghini this past season in the Blancpain Endurance Series, and also was part of the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup-winning PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports entry in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

Fong, an open-wheel convert who’s raced sporadically in the U.S. in Indy Lights and has also tested for Lotus and Sauber in Formula 1, continues with Team Absolute.

The confirmation of the Absolute Bentley program comes following Bentley’s initial two-year foray into World Challenge with Dyson Racing, which is exploring options for its own efforts in the series next year.
