Paul Di Resta and Lando Norris have gained their first laps in a LMP2 car ahead of their debut with United Autosports in January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The pairing have joined the Anglo-American squad on Tuesday at Paul Ricard, as part of a two-day test piloting the team’s Ligier JS P217 Gibson that will be used in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opener.
Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuquerque, who has been re-signed for the team’s 2018 European Le Mans Series campaign, are also turning laps in a second Ligier.
Di Resta and Norris, as well as two-time Formula One World Champion Fernando Alonso, will be making their prototype racing debuts in the Florida endurance classic.
Newly named McLaren test and reserve driver Norris will team with Alonso and Hanson in one car, with Di Resta and Will Owen so far confirmed for the team’s second entry.
