Frikadelli Racing has finalized the drivers for its U.S. debut in this month’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, featuring one of the strongest lineups in in the new-look GT Daytona class.
The veteran Porsche VLN squad led by Klaus Abbelen, which will field a new Porsche 911 GT3 R, will see the strength of GT aces Frank Stippler and Patrick Huisman alongside Porsche Junior Sven Mueller and ex-Junior Connor De Phillippi.
Huisman, a four-time Porsche Supercup champion, along with rising star De Phillippi, were downgraded from Gold to Silver driver rating for 2016 and make up the Am portion of the lineup alongside Nordschleife veteran Abbelen.
Sabine Schmitz, who was initially nominated alongside Abbelen, is no longer listed as a driver.
The team — made famous for running a large meatball graphic on their Porsches at the Nordschleife — will make its IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut as one of five teams running the German manufacturer’s new-spec GT3 contender.
All five drivers are expected to take part in this weekend’s Roar Before the Rolex 24.
