With Porsche factory drivers in high demand that weekend, Michael Christensen is set to pull double duty between both of the Porsche North America entries in next month’s TUDOR United SportsCar Championship round at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
The 24-year-old Dane will join Patrick Pilet at the wheel of the No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR, as well as teaming with Joerg Bergmeister in the No. 912 car for the two-hour and 40-minute Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix on May 3.
Christensen, who undertook a full season TUDOR Championship campaign with the CORE autosport-run operation last year, has been drafted in for the weekend due to both Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber being on FIA WEC duty at Spa-Francorchamps in a third Porsche 919 Hybrid.
Between Monterey and Spa, the German manufacturer will have a total of seven factory cars in action that weekend.
Porsche North America is coming off a fourth-place class finish in last weekend’s round at Long Beach, with Pilet and Fred Makowiecki handling driving duties of the No. 911 car.
