TRG-AMR Signs Nielsen for GTD Program with Davison

TRG-AMR will mount a championship attack in the GT Daytona class next year, with Christina Nielsen joining James Davison at the wheel of an Aston Martin Vantage GT3 for the entire 10-round TUDOR United SportsCar Championship season.

Nielsen returns to the Kevin Buckler-owned operation following two outings with the team this year, including October’s season-ending Petit Le Mans, where she teamed with Davison, Al Carter and David Block in the No. 007 entry.

“I really appreciate that we were able to put this top level program together,” Nielsen said. “This allows us to immediately start focusing on working in one direction, learning the team, chemistry and the tracks and of course the V12 Vantage GT3, one of the strongest options in the field right now.

“The team has proven their speed and the results speak for themselves. I have no doubt that we can turn this into a real run for a championship next year. It’s now time for some hard work and in January the fun truly begins.”

Davison, who scored four consecutive GTD poles last year, returns to the team for the second straight year.

The pairing will begin pre-season testing at Sebring later this month, where the team will evaluate additional drivers for the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup rounds.

“From the first moment she tested with us earlier this year at Sonoma to her final race at Petit Le Mans she impressed everyone on this team in so many ways,” Buckler said. “She is fast, smart, and hungry to make her name in the top professional driver ranks.

“We are going to give her every advantage we can starting with the potent V12 Vantage GT3. Her and James are going to make one hell of a team – probably one of the favorite combos in GTD this year and we are competing with only one purpose in mind: to win the championship together.”

Buckler said he’s working towards a multi-car GTD program next year, which could also include a return trip to the 24 Hours of Le Mans with an Aston Martin Vantage GTE leased from Prodrive.

A final decision on the team’s Le Mans ambitions have yet to be made.
