Despite little news having come from the French constructor on the Oreca 05, company President Hugues de Chaunac has remained confident of seeing the car in the hands of customers next year.

“We have always worked towards the goal of 2015, and the project is still on schedule,” de Chaunac told Endurance-Info. “The engineering department is awaiting the finalization of the new regulations. Everything is proceeding as planned.”

The design of the new car is well advanced and de Chaunac said more should be known by October. He said the goal is to put the Oreca 05 on track by the end of January.

“There is a real interest for privateers,” he said. “Our current customers want to continue to trust us and there are other customers [interested].

“We cannot deny that the teams currently running the Oreca 03R are waiting with interest on the new LMP2 design.

“But teams currently not in endurance have also shown interest, not to mention discussions on the other side of the Atlantic. However, the timing seems a bit [challenging] to see the Oreca 05 at Daytona in January.”

The Oreca 05 is one of at least three new LMP2 cars that are scheduled to debut in 2015, alongside the HPD ARX-04b and the Paolo Catone-designed SMP prototype.

Onroak Automotive rolled out with its Ligier JS P2 earlier this year, which has also been considered as one of the new-generation cost-capped prototypes.
