Ford has renewed the contracts for both Chip Ganassi Racing and Multimatic to continue operating the factory Ford GT program through the end of the 2019 seasons.
Multimatic’s Larry Holt confirmed to Sportscar365 that the Canadian-based firm, which designed and built the American super car, has reached a contract extension that will see Multimatic continue to work with CGR in both the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and FIA World Endurance Championship.
The two-year deals, which are believed to have been reached earlier this summer, puts both Multimatic and CGR on the same terms of Ford’s previously confirmed two-year extension of the overall program through 2019.
No word has been given if the Ford GT program will be extended beyond its four-year commitment, with the Blue Oval understood to be one of manufacturers evaluating IMSA’s DPi platform.
