Nick Heidfeld’s absence from the No. 12 Rebellion R-One AER will continue into this weekend’s season finale round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Six Hours of Bahrain.

The German had missed the two Asian rounds of the championship in Fuji and Shanghai anyway due to his FIA Formula E Championship commitments, but his planned return for Bahrain has been nixed due to an injury sustained at the most recent Formula E round in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

“Will miss #6hBahrain after (opposite steering lock) safe last ePrix was not so safe + pulled the laws of physics. Too far 4 my hand ligament,” Heidfeld wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

Nico Prost and Mathias Beche, the other two drivers in the No. 12 Rebellion Racing entry, have run solo without Heidfeld the last two events. It remains to be seen whether he’ll be replaced again.

Rebellion has already locked up the LMP1 Privateer’s Trophy prior to the finale.
