Goodsmile Racing has committed to next year’s Suzuka 10 Hours, with the Japanese team having confirmed Toyota LMP1 factory ace Kamui Kobayashi as part of its lineup for the Intercontinental GT Challenge round.
Kobayashi will join the team’s Super GT pairing of Nobuteru Taniguchi and Tatsuya Kataoka in its Mercedes-AMG GT3 for the Aug. 24-26 event, which debuts on the IGTC calendar next year.
The new round, organized by Mobilityland, replaces Super GT’s traditional Suzuka 1000km event on that weekend, with backing from both GTA and SRO.
The team, led by ex-Formula One and Le Mans driver Uko Katayama, made its European and IGTC debut in this year’s Total 24 Hours of Spa with the same driver lineup, in an effort assisted by RAM Racing.
