Christian England has remained in a Portugal hospital following last weekend’s European Le Mans Series season-ending 4 Hours of Portimao.
The United Autosports driver sustained fractures to his right ankle, lower leg and bones in his right foot from the opening-lap multi-car accident, having underwent surgery on Tuesday evening.
However, the 38-year-old is expected to remain in hospital due to “more damage than initially thought.”
A statement from the Anglo-American team states they hope to have a “clearer picture” on an additinal surgery for England that will be required prior to his release back to the UK.
“Both Christian and the team are very grateful for all your well wishes and we will keep you all up to date when we know more,” the team added.
